CHAPTER 6: THE MAN WHO BUILT SOMETHING HE DIDN’T OWN

CHAPTER 6: THE MAN WHO BUILT SOMETHING HE DIDN’T OWN

Marcus stepped toward the front desk.

His voice sharpened.

“What is going on with access systems?”

The staff looked at each other.

No one answered immediately.

Because something had changed in the last ten minutes.

Their internal dashboard had refreshed.

Their reporting hierarchy had updated.

And the name at the top—

was no longer his.

The manager swallowed.

“Sir…” he said carefully. “We’ve received updated ownership directives.”

Marcus blinked.

“What directives?”

The manager hesitated.

Then turned the screen slightly.

Marcus looked.

And for the first time that night—

his expression stopped performing confidence.

CHAPTER 7: THE CALL THAT ERASES A KING

My father’s voice came through again.

Calm.

Controlled.

“It’s done,” he said.

I stood under the city lights.

“And him?” I asked.

A pause.

Then:

“He’s no longer listed as executive authority on any property in the chain.”

Another pause.

“He will be informed shortly.”

I looked back at the hotel.

Through the glass, I could see movement now.

Not chaos.

Correction.

The kind that happens when an illusion stops being supported.

CHAPTER 8: THE PRESIDENTIAL SUITE TURNS INTO A DOOR THAT WON’T OPEN

Upstairs, Marcus and his mistress stood in front of the suite door.

A hotel employee approached cautiously.

“I’m sorry, sir,” he said. “This room has been reassigned.”

Marcus stared at him.

“Reassigned to who?”

The employee checked his tablet.

Then answered simply:

“Ownership confirmation: Isabella Laurent.”

A pause.

Marcus frowned slightly.

“…My wife,” he said.

The employee shook his head.

“No, sir.”

Another pause.

“She is listed as primary controlling stakeholder.”

Silence.

Not disbelief this time.

Computation.
