CHAPTER II – THE PHOTO ON THE COUNTER

CHAPTER II – THE PHOTO ON THE COUNTER

The receptionist tilted her head. “Sir, everyone has a story.”

He nodded.

“Yes. But not everyone loses everything they built.”

Slowly, he reached into his inner pocket and pulled out a folded photograph. It was old, worn, edges softened by time.

He placed it on the counter.

A younger version of him stood smiling in front of a salon.

The same logo.

The same building.

The receptionist looked down.

Then hesitated.

One of the stylists leaned closer. “Wait… that’s this place.”

Another frowned. “No way…”

The receptionist quickly pushed the photo aside. “Even if that’s true, it doesn’t change anything. You don’t have money.”

The old man didn’t argue.

He simply said, “Then let me work for it.”

Silence filled the room.

The smirks were gone now.

Even the hairdryers felt quieter.
