The wind off the harbor carried every word like a sentence already written.

The woman beside Miller froze.

Now her hand slipped from his arm.

Silence hit harder than the waves.

She just stood there holding the transfer document, the sea wind snapping the paper edges like it wanted to tear it apart for her.
