CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET HIDDEN IN THE WILL

CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET HIDDEN IN THE WILL
The silence shattered when the pregnant wife cried out in pain.
Only then did a housekeeper rush forward.
"She's bleeding!"
The words echoed through the foyer.
For the first time, her husband looked toward her.
Not because she had accused Jessica.
Not because she had fallen.
Because there was blood spreading across the white marble floor.
Within minutes, an ambulance arrived.
As the paramedics lifted her onto the stretcher, she looked at her husband one last time.
"Please..."
"Our baby..."
He hesitated.
Only for a second.
Then Jessica grabbed his arm.
"Don't leave me."
He stayed.
His pregnant wife was driven away alone.
Three hours later...
The emergency surgery saved both mother and baby.
Exhausted and pale, she opened her eyes to find an elderly man waiting quietly beside her bed.
"My name is Richard Hale," he said.
"I was your father-in-law's attorney."
She frowned.
"I know who you are."
He placed a sealed envelope on the blanket.
"Your father-in-law instructed me to give you this only if his family ever abandoned you."
Her hands trembled.
Inside was a handwritten letter.
If you are reading this, then I have failed to protect you.
I know my wife and my son better than they know themselves.
They value bloodlines more than character.
There is something they have never been told...
She stopped breathing.
My son is not my biological child.
Another page slipped onto her lap.
A DNA report.
Signed.
Certified.
Her father-in-law had discovered the truth years earlier.
His wife had hidden an affair.
The man everyone believed would inherit the Hale Empire...
Wasn't a Hale by blood at all.
Richard quietly added,
"Your father-in-law never revealed it because he loved the boy as his own."
"But after seeing how they treated you..."
"He changed his will."
She stared at him.
"What does that mean?"
Richard slid another document across the bed.
"The Hale Group."
"The family estate."
"The trust."
"The voting shares."
"They now belong to you..."
May you like
"...and your child."
Everything changed in a single sentence.
