CHAPTER 2: THE TRAP INSIDE THE BANK

CHAPTER 2: THE TRAP INSIDE THE BANK
Explosions of light flashed outside as the bank’s power cut out.
Emergency locks engaged automatically.
The robbers weren’t escaping anymore.
They were trapped.
“No no no…” the gunman muttered, backing away from the doors. “We were supposed to be out before they arrived.”
The knife-wielding man turned sharply toward the boy.
“You triggered them.”
“I didn’t trigger anything,” the boy replied. “You did… when you came here.”
The silver badge in his hand began to beep softly.
A tracking device.
His mother gasped. “What is that thing?!”
The boy stared at it, realization sinking in.
“I think… they’ve been watching me for a long time.”
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the bank speakers.
Calm. Controlled. Familiar.
“Subject Echo is confirmed inside.”
The boy froze.
That voice.
He had heard it before… in fragments of his father’s recordings.
The man from the shadows had returned.
The same man who was at the edge of his memories… and the center of the conspiracy.
Outside, armored figures began breaching the building.
Inside, the robbers were shaking.
But the boy was no longer just a hostage.
May you like
He was the center of the operation.
And whatever “Project Black Meridian” was… it had just been reactivated.
