PART 3 — The Child They Couldn’t Erase

PART 3 — The Child They Couldn’t Erase

The guests began to whisper.

“Carriage accident
wasn’t that the Vance family tragedy?”

“I heard the child died
”

“I heard she was never found
”

The rich woman stepped back.

“No,” she said quickly. “That girl is lying. She’s trying to—”

Julian held up the broken pearl.

“She didn’t engrave this,” he said coldly. “This was done in my family workshop.”

Silence hit harder this time.

He turned to the girl.

“What did your grandmother look like?”

“She had silver hair,” the girl said softly. “And she always cried when she looked at this necklace.”

Julian’s breath stopped.

Because he remembered.

The nurse.

The disappearance.

The sealed carriage report.

And the one thing his father had always refused to discuss.

A missing child.

Named Elena.

The rich woman suddenly rushed forward.

“You can’t seriously believe her! She’s a servant’s child—she’s nothing—”

Julian snapped his head toward her.

“Stop talking.”

The room went dead.

Even the piano player froze mid-note.

Julian walked toward the girl and slowly knelt in front of her.

“What’s your full name?” he asked again.

The girl hesitated.

Then whispered:

“Elena Rose.”

A collective gasp filled the hall.

Because that was not a coincidence.

That was confirmation.

Julian closed his eyes for a second.

When he opened them again, something had changed.

Not anger.

Not shock.

Clarity.

He stood up.

And turned toward the staff behind him.

“Lock the doors,” he said quietly.

The rich woman froze. “What?”

Julian didn’t look at her.

“Until we know who destroyed that necklace
 no one leaves.”

The guests began to panic.

But Julian’s gaze stayed on one person.

The woman who broke the pearls.

And his next words ended her world.

May you like

“You didn’t just insult a guest,” he said.

“You just destroyed proof of a missing heir.”
