PART 2: THE RECORD THAT DIDN’T MATCH HER STORY

PART 2: THE RECORD THAT DIDN’T MATCH HER STORY
The video began to play.
At first, it looked ordinary.
Students gathered near the equipment bay. Instructions being given. Everyone moving in groups.
Then the timestamp appeared.
And everything tightened.
Because it showed something Audrey had not expected anyone to recover.
I was standing near the safety panel, checking a valve reading the instructor had asked us to monitor.
Not interfering.
Not arguing.
Just doing what I was assigned.
A younger student—Amina—had been positioned too close to a restricted hose line.
I remembered the exact moment.
A warning label had been partially covered.
And I had stepped in front of her.
Just enough to move her back.
Just enough to prevent what would have been a direct safety violation.
The instructor on the recording could be heard clearly:
“Good catch, Farah. That zone is restricted.”
A pause.
Then another voice.
Audrey’s voice.
Sharp.
Immediate.
“That’s not what happened.”
The video didn’t stop.
Because it didn’t need to.
It showed everything.
Including what happened after.
Audrey approaching me.
Audrey raising her hand.
Audrey striking me across the face in front of everyone.
Gasps erupted in the room as the footage continued.
Not because of the slap.
But because of what came right after it.
The instructor stepping forward instantly.
“Why did you hit her?” he was heard asking.
Audrey’s voice on the recording was different now.
Controlled.
Carefully constructed.
“She was causing trouble,” she said. “She embarrassed me in front of everyone.”
But then—
The instructor checked the panel logs.
And his voice changed.
May you like
“Actually… she just prevented a safety breach.”
That line landed like a hammer.
