Audrey’s breathing changed.
I could hear it from where I stood.
Faster now.
Unstable.
The principal leaned closer to the screen.
“Continue.”
The second clip played.
This one was worse for her.
Not louder.
Not more dramatic.
Just undeniable.
A full log of the safety system alert that had been triggered.
A timestamp matching exactly when I moved Amina away.
A record showing Audrey had been standing in the restricted zone moments before the instructor intervened.
And a note from staff:
“Student Aziz acted correctly under safety protocol.”
The room shifted.
Not all at once.
But in waves.
Students looking at each other.
Phones lowering.
Whispers rising.
“Wait… she wasn’t lying?”
“Then why did Audrey—”
Audrey finally spoke, her voice tight.
“This is being taken out of context.”

“Audrey,” he said quietly. “Did you strike another student?”
May you like
Silence.
That silence was the answer.
