PART 3: THE SYSTEM THAT STOLE HER

PART 3: THE SYSTEM THAT STOLE HER

The board member finally spoke again.

“Ethan… there were complications after birth. But the records were altered before discharge.”

The words landed like stone.

Altered.

Not mistaken.

Not lost.

Altered.

Ethan turned slowly toward his wife.

The socialite’s face had changed completely now.

No longer rage.

No longer control.

Calculation.

“You don’t understand,” she said softly. “It was for you. The doctors said the baby wouldn’t survive. I made a decision—”

“You erased a human being,” Ethan interrupted.

His voice was quiet.

But it shook the entire lobby.

Lena stepped forward slightly.

“I survived,” she said. “And I grew up thinking I was unwanted.”

The silence that followed was unbearable.

Even security guards looked down.

Ethan’s hands trembled.

Not from anger.

From recognition.

Something inside him had been missing for twenty-three years without him knowing what it was.

Now it was standing in front of him.

Alive.

May you like

Breathing.

And stolen.
