CHAPTER 7: THE FALL OF THE PERFECT FAMILY

CHAPTER 7: THE FALL OF THE PERFECT FAMILY

The words remained on the screen.

CARTER PRIVATE ARCHIVE.

The secret that had been hidden for twelve years.

The secret that had caused betrayals, lies, and destruction.

The secret that had turned Amelia's wedding day into a battlefield.

Everyone in the ballroom looked at her.

Not with sympathy.

Not anymore.

With expectation.

Because they all understood one thing.

Amelia Carter was no longer just the victim.

She was the key.

For years, the Hale family had appeared untouchable.

A wealthy family.

A respected family.

A family whose name opened doors.

People admired them.

Trusted them.

Invited them into their homes.

But tonight, that image had collapsed.

The perfect family was finally exposed.

And when a perfect image falls...

It usually makes the loudest noise.

Security officers began escorting guests out of the ballroom.

The wedding decorations remained untouched.

The flowers were still beautiful.

The candles were still burning.

The expensive champagne was still sitting on the tables.

Everything looked perfect.

Except the people.

Because everyone knew.

This was no longer a wedding.

It was a crime scene.

Margaret Hale stood near the entrance.

The woman who had confidently ordered Amelia to empty her purse now looked completely different.

Her arrogance was gone.

Her control was gone.

Only fear remained.

"Amelia."

Amelia stopped.

Slowly, she turned.

For years, Margaret had treated her like a prize.

A valuable connection.

A way to enter the Carter family fortune.

Never as a daughter-in-law.

Never as family.

"What do you want?"

Margaret swallowed.

"I want you to know that I never wanted things to go this far."

Amelia stared at her.

The sentence almost sounded believable.

Almost.

"How far did you want it to go?"

Margaret looked away.

"That isn't what I meant."

"No."

Amelia stepped closer.

"Tell me."

Her voice was calm.

"How far was the plan?"

Nobody spoke.

Margaret remained silent.

And that silence answered everything.

The investigator opened another file.

"Mrs. Hale."

Margaret looked over.

"We found additional financial records."

Her face changed.

"What records?"

The investigator looked at the tablet.

"Payments."

"Payments to whom?"

The investigator looked directly at Claire.

The bridesmaid who had helped frame Amelia.

Claire immediately began crying.

"No..."

Margaret turned.

"Claire."

But Claire stepped backward.

"I can't do this anymore."

The room became silent.

Claire wiped her tears.

"I was paid."

Amelia looked at her.

"By who?"

Claire looked toward Margaret.

Nobody needed an explanation.

The answer was already clear.

Margaret's expression hardened.

"Don't be ridiculous."

Claire shook her head.

"You promised me everything would be okay."

Margaret said nothing.

"You said Amelia would never find out."

A pause.

"You said Daniel would handle everything."

Daniel closed his eyes.

Because every person involved was finally beginning to fall.

One by one.

The investigator continued.

"Claire received several payments over the last six months."

The guests whispered.

"Six months?"

Someone said.

"So this was planned before the wedding?"

Amelia looked down.

Of course it was.

Nothing about tonight had happened by accident.

The ring.

The accusation.

The documents.

The humiliation.

Every piece had been placed exactly where they wanted it.

Then the investigator revealed something else.

"We also found communication between Margaret Hale and a private legal team."

Margaret became pale.

"What communication?"

The investigator opened the file.

"The legal team was preparing documents to question Mrs. Carter's mental capacity."

Amelia closed her eyes.

Even now, hearing it again hurt.

They wanted to take her child.

They wanted to make her look unstable.

They wanted to rewrite reality.

The investigator read the message.

"Subject: Emergency custody preparation."

"Mrs. Carter's emotional condition after childbirth may be used as evidence."

The ballroom became silent.

The cruelty of it shocked even the people who had known the plan.

They were not just trying to steal her company.

They were preparing to steal her baby.

Amelia looked at Margaret.

"Did you ever see me as a person?"

Margaret's eyes filled with tears.

For the first time, she looked ashamed.

But Amelia no longer knew whether it was real.

"I wanted the best for Daniel."

Amelia laughed softly.

"The best for Daniel?"

She pointed around the room.

"You tried to destroy his wife."

Margaret whispered:

"You don't understand."

"No."

Amelia shook her head.

"I understand perfectly."

"You were never protecting your son."

A pause.

"You were protecting your power."

Then Daniel spoke.

"Mother."

Everyone turned.

His voice was different.

Not defensive.

Not afraid.

Angry.

"Why?"

Margaret looked at him.

"Daniel..."

"No."

He stepped forward.

"You used me."

Her expression changed.

"You told me this was the only way."

Daniel laughed bitterly.

"You told me Amelia would never love someone else."

Silence.

"You told me I was saving our family."

Margaret looked down.

Daniel continued.

"But you never told me the truth."

Amelia looked at him.

"The truth about what?"

Daniel stared at his mother.

"The real reason my father wanted Carter Enterprises."

The room became quiet.

Margaret's face changed.

Because she knew.

Daniel continued:

"It was never just about money."

A pause.

"It was about what Richard Carter discovered."

The screen activated again.

A new file appeared.

This time:

HALE FAMILY INTERNAL RECORDS.

The investigator opened it.

Inside were years of hidden transactions.

Secret accounts.

Illegal deals.

Manipulated companies.

The Hale family empire was not built only through success.

It was built through destruction.

The first name appeared.

VICTOR HALE.

The second.

MARGARET HALE.

The third.

THOMAS REED.

Everyone stared.

The three people connected to the downfall of Richard Carter.

The three people responsible for the war that had lasted fifteen years.

Then another document appeared.

A message from Victor.

Sent three years earlier.

The title:

FINAL ACQUISITION PLAN.

The message was simple.

When Amelia Carter has no protection left, we take everything.

Below it:

Step one: Isolate her.

Step two: Control her marriage.

Step three: Control her inheritance.

Step four: Remove her authority.

Amelia stared at the screen.

Isolate her.

That was what they had done.

They separated her from everyone.

They made her believe only Daniel understood her.

Only Daniel loved her.

Only Daniel was safe.

And then they used that trust to destroy her.

Daniel looked at Amelia.

"I am sorry."

The words came quietly.

But Amelia did not respond.

Because sorry was easy.

Anyone could say sorry after losing.

The difficult part was taking responsibility before the damage happened.

Suddenly, Elena Carter stepped forward.

Amelia looked at her mother.

The woman who had started everything.

The woman who had given Daniel the first instructions.

"Amelia..."

Her voice cracked.

"I need to tell you something."

Amelia stared.

"What now?"

Elena looked around.

Then whispered:

"Daniel wasn't the first person Victor tried to use."

Everyone froze.

"What do you mean?"

Elena's hands trembled.

"Before Daniel..."

A pause.

"Victor came to me."

Amelia's expression changed.

The room became silent.

"What?"

Elena closed her eyes.

"I made a deal with him."

The confession shocked everyone.

Even Daniel.

Elena continued.

"I thought I could control him."

A bitter smile appeared.

"I thought I was smarter than him."

She looked at Amelia.

"I was wrong."

The woman who had betrayed her daughter finally admitted the truth.

"Victor didn't want your money."

A pause.

"He wanted something your father hid."

The lights flickered.

The screen displayed a new message.

ARCHIVE ACCESS REQUESTED.

Someone was trying to open the Carter Archive remotely.

The investigator checked the system.

"Impossible."

"Why?"

"Because only Amelia can authorize access."

Everyone looked at her.

Then the investigator's face changed.

"Wait."

"What?"

He stared at the screen.

"Someone is using her identity."

Amelia felt a chill.

"My identity?"

The investigator nodded.

"Someone has a copy of your private authorization key."

The room froze.

Because there was only one way someone could have that.

Someone close.

Someone trusted.

Someone who had access to her personal information.

Amelia slowly turned.

Her eyes moved across the room.

Daniel.

Her mother.

The Hale family.

Everyone.

And suddenly she realized:

The perfect family had fallen.

May you like

But the person who betrayed her next...

Might be someone she never suspected.
