Chapter 15 – Tyler's Breaking Point

Chapter 15 – Tyler's Breaking Point

There is a moment when a person stops running.

Not because they are no longer afraid.

But because they finally understand that fear has already taken everything from them.

For years, Tyler Lawson survived by controlling his emotions.

By hiding his pain.

By pretending he was stronger than the people who created him.

But every person has a limit.

And Tyler had reached his.

The police station was quieter than usual.

The kind of quiet that only appears after something enormous has happened.

Alexander Vale had been found.

Victoria Hale had disappeared.

Lily had learned the truth.

And Bridget Lawson was still fighting to recover.

Yet somehow...

The most dangerous person in the room was the one sitting alone in the interrogation chamber.

Tyler Lawson.

Detective Michael Grant watched him through the glass.

"He hasn't spoken for four hours."

Sarah Chen stood beside him.

"He's waiting."

"For what?"

Sarah looked through the window.

"For someone to finally ask the right question."

Tyler had confessed many things.

He admitted hiding evidence.

He admitted lying to Lily.

He admitted manipulating the events on the terrace.

But there was still one thing he refused to explain.

The night Richard Lawson died.

Grant entered the room.

Tyler didn't look up.

"You knew Richard was Lily's father."

No response.

"You knew Alexander was dangerous."

Still nothing.

"You protected Lily for twenty years."

Tyler's fingers tightened.

A small movement.

But Grant noticed.

"And yet you still let her believe you were her father."

That finally broke the silence.

Tyler looked up.

"You think I don't know what I did?"

His voice was quiet.

Not angry.

Just tired.

"I know exactly what I did."

Grant sat down.

"Then explain."

Tyler laughed softly.

A bitter sound.

"You want an explanation?"

He looked around the room.

"Everyone wants one."

"The police want one."

"Bridget wants one."

"Lily wants one."

A pause.

"But nobody wants to hear the truth."

Grant leaned forward.

"Try me."

Tyler stared at the table.

"I was twenty-five years old when Richard died."

He swallowed.

"I thought I understood the world."

"I thought power meant never being hurt."

"Then I watched my father and Alexander prove me wrong."

Tyler explained what happened seventeen years earlier.

The night Richard Lawson died.

Richard had planned to expose Alexander.

He had gathered evidence.

Financial records.

Private agreements.

Names of powerful people involved.

But Alexander found out.

"He came to the house."

Tyler whispered.

"Richard confronted him."

"What happened?"

Grant asked.

Tyler closed his eyes.

"I arrived too late."

He remembered the scene.

The argument.

The broken glass.

Richard standing between Alexander and Bridget.

Protecting her.

Protecting Lily.

"Alexander didn't kill him directly."

Grant frowned.

"What does that mean?"

Tyler looked at him.

"He didn't have to."

Alexander had built a system where accidents happened.

People disappeared.

Evidence vanished.

Problems solved themselves.

Richard's death was recorded as a medical emergency.

A tragic accident.

A heart failure.

"But it wasn't."

"No."

Tyler's voice hardened.

"Alexander scared him until his heart gave out."

Grant remained silent.

Tyler continued.

"That night, I learned something."

"What?"

"Monsters don't always use weapons."

A pause.

"Sometimes they use fear."

The interrogation room became still.

Grant looked at him.

"Why didn't you expose him then?"

Tyler smiled sadly.

"Because I was afraid."

It was the first honest answer.

"I had Lily."

"I had Bridget."

"And Alexander had everything else."

Tyler explained.

Alexander threatened to destroy Bridget.

Take Lily.

Destroy the Lawson family.

Anyone who spoke would lose everything.

"So I made a deal."

Grant looked up.

"With Alexander?"

Tyler nodded.

"I became his ally."

The confession hung in the room.

"I helped him maintain the illusion."

"I smiled at charity events."

"I defended the foundation."

"I became exactly what Richard feared I would become."

Sarah entered quietly.

She had been listening from the observation room.

"Why now?"

Tyler looked at her.

"What?"

"Why reveal everything now?"

Tyler was silent.

Then he answered:

"Because Lily looked at me the way I looked at my father."

Sarah understood.

Disappointment.

Fear.

Betrayal.

Tyler looked down.

"I spent my whole life trying not to become Richard."

A pause.

"But I became worse."

Sarah stepped closer.

"No."

Tyler looked at her.

"You made mistakes."

"But Richard chose to fight at the end."

"You chose to protect Lily."

Tyler shook his head.

"I lied to her."

"Yes."

Sarah said.

"But you also loved her."

For the first time...

Tyler looked close to breaking.

Then his phone, held as evidence, suddenly rang.

Everyone froze.

Grant answered.

No one spoke.

A distorted voice came through.

"Tyler."

Everyone recognized it.

Alexander Vale.

Tyler stood immediately.

"Where is Lily?"

Alexander laughed.

"Still protecting her."

The line crackled.

"You really learned nothing."

Tyler's expression changed.

"Let her go."

"No."

A pause.

"Because now I know the truth."

Everyone listened.

Alexander continued.

"Lily isn't Richard's only secret."

Tyler went still.

"What are you talking about?"

Alexander laughed.

"You never asked why Richard protected her so much."

Silence.

"Because she wasn't just his daughter."

Tyler's face changed.

"She was the reason he died."

The call ended.

Nobody moved.

Sarah looked at Tyler.

"Is that true?"

Tyler didn't answer.

Because the look on his face revealed everything.

There was another secret.

One even Tyler had buried.

A secret about Richard.

About Lily.

About the night everything changed.

And Tyler had spent seventeen years trying to forget it.

The man who survived lies.

The man who protected a child.

The man who carried another man's sins.

Had finally reached his breaking point.

But the truth waiting on the other side...

May you like

Might destroy him completely.
