CHAPTER 11 — THE TEST OF LOYALTY

THE MAID WHO WAS REALLY HIS WIFE

CHAPTER 11 — THE TEST OF LOYALTY

Loyalty was easy when there was nothing to lose.

Anyone could stand beside someone when the world was peaceful.

Anyone could say I will protect you when there was no danger.

But true loyalty was revealed when protecting someone meant sacrificing everything.

Your reputation.

Your wealth.

Your future.

Your own blood.

For Alejandro Castillo, the greatest test of loyalty was no longer finding his enemies.

He had found them.

Vivian Moretti.

Antonio Castillo.

Daniel Castillo.

The people who betrayed him were finally exposed.

But the hardest question remained.

Who could he still trust?

The document from the private clinic sat in the center of the table.

One page.

One line.

One impossible truth.

Transferred three years ago.

Destination: Castillo Private Residence.

Elena stared at the paper.

Her face had lost all color.

"My child was here."

Her voice was barely a whisper.

"In this house."

Alejandro reached for her hand.

But this time, he noticed something.

She wasn't crying.

She wasn't breaking.

She was remembering.

Three years of being trapped.

Three years of hearing footsteps outside the basement door.

Three years of wondering why someone wanted her gone.

And now she realized something even more painful.

Her child had been close.

Close enough that she could have saved them.

"Elena."

Alejandro's voice softened.

"This was not your fault."

She looked at him.

"I know."

A pause.

"But someone knew."

That sentence changed the room.

Because Elena was right.

Someone inside the Castillo mansion knew about the baby.

Someone knew where the child was taken.

Someone stayed silent.

And silence was its own kind of betrayal.

Marcus continued investigating.

"The private residence listed in the document belongs to an old Castillo property."

Alejandro looked up.

"Which one?"

Marcus hesitated.

"Your mother's estate."

Silence.

Alejandro froze.

"My mother's?"

The estate had been abandoned for years.

After his mother died, nobody returned there.

Not even Alejandro.

Too many memories.

Too much pain.

"Why would anyone take the child there?"

Elena asked.

Marcus looked at the records.

"Because nobody would look there."

That answer terrified Alejandro.

Because whoever planned this knew him.

Not just his business.

Not just his money.

Him.

That evening, Alejandro gathered everyone who remained loyal to the Castillo family.

The employees.

The security team.

The people who had served his father.

He stood in the grand hall where Elena had once been treated like a stranger.

But this time, she stood beside him.

Not behind him.

"Three years ago, someone inside this house helped erase my wife."

The room became silent.

"Someone helped steal my child's future."

Nobody moved.

Alejandro looked at every face.

"I want the truth."

"Not excuses."

"Not fear."

"The truth."

Then an elderly woman stepped forward.

Margaret.

The Castillo family housekeeper for thirty years.

Elena immediately recognized her.

Margaret had been the only person who occasionally left extra food near the basement door.

The only person who looked at Elena like she was human.

"Mr. Castillo..."

Her voice trembled.

"I should have told you."

Alejandro's expression changed.

"Told me what?"

Margaret looked down.

"About the night Mrs. Castillo disappeared."

The room became tense.

"I saw Daniel."

Alejandro closed his eyes.

"What did he do?"

Margaret swallowed.

"He came to the basement."

Elena looked at her.

"You knew?"

The guilt on Margaret's face was obvious.

"I knew you were alive."

A painful silence followed.

Elena stepped back.

For three years, she believed nobody knew.

But someone did.

Someone saw her suffering.

And stayed quiet.

"Why?"

Elena asked.

Margaret began crying.

"Because they threatened my grandson."

Nobody spoke.

"They told me if I helped you, he would disappear."

Alejandro's anger softened slightly.

Because he understood fear.

But Elena looked hurt.

Not angry.

Hurt.

"Did you ever think I was going to die?"

Margaret couldn't answer.

That silence was enough.

Later that night, Alejandro found Elena in the garden.

"You hate her."

He said.

Elena looked at him.

"No."

A pause.

"I understand her."

Alejandro was surprised.

"After everything?"

Elena looked at the mansion.

"Fear makes people do terrible things."

"But forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting."

She turned toward him.

"People need to be responsible for the choices they make."

Alejandro smiled slightly.

Because the woman Vivian tried to destroy had become stronger than anyone expected.

Meanwhile, at the old Castillo estate...

A young woman opened the door to a hidden room.

She carried a small box.

Inside was a child's bracelet.

A name engraved on it.

LUCAS.

The woman touched it gently.

"Your father is looking for you."

A child's voice answered from the room.

"Will he know me?"

The woman froze.

"Yes."

A pause.

"He never stopped loving you."

The next morning, Alejandro received a call.

Unknown number.

This time, he answered immediately.

A woman spoke.

"I have something that belongs to you."

Alejandro's heart stopped.

"Who are you?"

The woman hesitated.

Then:

"My name is Clara."

"I was the nurse assigned to your child."

Elena grabbed Alejandro's arm.

"Where is my baby?"

Silence.

Then Clara whispered:

"Alive."

For three years, Alejandro had searched for his missing wife.

Then he searched for the truth.

Now he was searching for his child.

But before they could celebrate...

Clara said something that destroyed their hope.

"Mr. Castillo..."

"The child is alive."

A pause.

"But someone is trying to kill him."

Alejandro stood frozen.

Because the war was no longer about the past.

It was about the future.

And the person hunting his child was someone who still had access to the Castillo family.

Someone who had passed every loyalty test.

May you like

Someone nobody suspected.
