CHAPTER 9 — THE BILLION-DOLLAR CONSPIRACY

THE MAID WHO WAS REALLY HIS WIFE

CHAPTER 9 — THE BILLION-DOLLAR CONSPIRACY

Money did not create monsters.

It revealed them.

For years, Alejandro Castillo believed his family fought for power.

He thought they wanted influence.

Respect.

Control.

But he had been wrong.

They wanted something far more dangerous.

They wanted ownership of everything he built.

And Elena Castillo was the only person standing between them and a billion-dollar empire.

The photograph remained on Alejandro's desk.

A pregnancy test.

A message.

A threat.

THE CHILD YOU LOST WAS NEVER AN ACCIDENT.

He had stared at those words for hours.

Trying to find another explanation.

Trying to convince himself that whoever sent it was manipulating them.

But deep down, he knew.

Because every lie they had uncovered followed the same pattern.

Someone removed a piece of his life.

Someone benefited from the loss.

Someone made sure he never discovered the truth.

"Alejandro."

Elena's voice pulled him back.

She stood in the doorway of his office.

"You haven't slept."

He looked at her.

"I need to know the truth."

She walked inside slowly.

"About the baby?"

He nodded.

Elena sat across from him.

Her hands trembled slightly.

"I spent three years believing I lost our child."

Her voice broke.

"I buried a baby I never got to hold."

Alejandro looked down.

The pain in her eyes was something he could not fix.

Not with money.

Not with power.

Not with revenge.

"I promise you."

He said quietly.

"I will find out what happened."

Elena looked at him.

"And if the truth hurts?"

Alejandro answered immediately.

"Then we face it together."

That was the first time Elena believed him.

Not because he promised.

Because he did not promise to protect her from the truth.

He promised to stand beside her when it arrived.

Meanwhile, inside an abandoned office building downtown...

Daniel Castillo sat across from Antonio.

The two men who once controlled the shadows were now arguing.

"You said everything was handled."

Daniel said.

Antonio poured himself a drink.

"It was."

"No."

Daniel slammed his hand on the table.

"It wasn't."

"Elena is alive."

"She remembers."

"And Alejandro knows."

Antonio's expression remained cold.

"Calm down."

Daniel laughed bitterly.

"You always say that."

"Every time something goes wrong."

A pause.

"You said Vivian would disappear with the evidence."

"You said Richard Hale would destroy the documents."

"You said Elena would never leave that basement."

Antonio looked at him.

"And yet you are still alive."

Daniel froze.

The meaning behind those words was clear.

A warning.

"You wouldn't."

Daniel whispered.

Antonio smiled.

"Never confuse patience with kindness."

The room went silent.

Because Daniel finally understood something.

He had never been Antonio's partner.

He had only been a useful tool.

Back at Castillo headquarters, Marcus uncovered something hidden inside the company records.

A forgotten corporation.

A shell company created seven years earlier.

The name:

A.C. Holdings International.

Alejandro frowned.

"My initials."

Marcus nodded.

"Created without your knowledge."

"Who owns it?"

Marcus placed another file down.

The answer was worse than expected.

"Your father."

Alejandro stared.

"My father died five years ago."

"Yes."

"But this company was active after his death."

Silence.

They opened the financial records.

Millions moved through hidden accounts.

Investments.

Properties.

Private medical facilities.

Everything connected to one project.

The Castillo Legacy Program.

Elena looked confused.

"What is that?"

Nobody answered.

Because nobody knew.

Until they found the confidential files.

The documents revealed the truth.

The Castillo family had created a private inheritance system.

A plan designed decades earlier.

A system where only a biological heir could inherit complete control of the empire.

Alejandro's father had changed the rules before his death.

The next true heir would be:

Alejandro's first child.

The room became silent.

Elena slowly looked at Alejandro.

"Our child."

He nodded.

That was why.

That was the reason.

The baby was not just a child.

The baby was the key to the entire Castillo fortune.

"How much?"

Alejandro asked.

Marcus looked at the final document.

"Approximately forty billion dollars."

Nobody spoke.

Because suddenly everything made sense.

Elena was not removed because Vivian wanted her husband.

She was removed because she carried the future owner of the Castillo empire.

Alejandro walked to the window.

His entire life had been a carefully designed battlefield.

He thought he inherited an empire.

But he had actually inherited a war.

Then another file appeared.

One that had been hidden deeper than the others.

A medical report.

Elena's name.

The date of her disappearance.

Alejandro opened it.

His hands became cold.

Because the report stated:

Patient: Elena Castillo

Pregnancy status: Confirmed.

Then below:

Pregnancy termination: Not completed.

Elena covered her mouth.

"No..."

Alejandro looked at her.

The world stopped.

Because the baby they believed they lost...

May never have been lost.

"Where is the doctor?"

Alejandro asked.

Marcus immediately began searching.

But the answer came faster than expected.

The doctor who signed the report was dead.

Three years ago.

A supposed heart attack.

Another convenient disappearance.

Then Alejandro's phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A woman's voice.

Older.

Terrified.

"Mr. Castillo..."

Alejandro froze.

"Who is this?"

"My name is Dr. Sophia Bennett."

Elena stood immediately.

"The doctor who treated me?"

The voice continued.

"I should have told you the truth three years ago."

A pause.

"But they threatened my family."

Alejandro's grip tightened.

"What truth?"

The woman whispered:

"Your child survived."

Silence.

Nobody moved.

Then the doctor said the words that changed everything.

"The night Elena disappeared..."

"Someone took your baby."

Alejandro felt the entire world collapse.

Because for three years he believed he lost his wife.

But the truth was worse.

Someone had taken his wife.

And someone had taken his child.

The billion-dollar conspiracy was no longer about money.

It was about blood.

May you like

And the people who started it would do anything to keep the Castillo heir hidden.
