CHAPTER 4 — THE WOMAN WHO STOLE HER NAME

THE MAID WHO WAS REALLY HIS WIFE

CHAPTER 4 — THE WOMAN WHO STOLE HER NAME

A name was more than a word.

It was a person's history.

Their memories.

Their achievements.

Their place in the world.

When someone stole your money, you could rebuild.

When someone stole your home, you could find another.

But when someone stole your name…

They stole the proof that you ever existed.

For three years, Elena Castillo had lived as a ghost.

Not because she was dead.

But because Vivian Moretti had convinced the world she was.

The night Alejandro discovered Vivian and Richard Hale trying to escape, the entire Castillo mansion went into lockdown.

No one entered.

No one left.

Every exit was guarded.

Every vehicle was searched.

Every communication line connected to Vivian was investigated.

But Alejandro knew something.

A person like Vivian Moretti did not survive for three years by making careless mistakes.

She planned everything.

Including her escape.

"She knew I would find Elena eventually."

Alejandro stood inside his office, staring at the security reports.

Marcus nodded.

"Yes, sir."

"Then why stay?"

A pause.

"Because she wanted something."

Alejandro looked at him.

"What?"

Marcus placed another file on the desk.

"This."

Inside was a copy of a legal document.

A document that made Alejandro's blood turn cold.

TRANSFER OF MARITAL RIGHTS AND ASSETS

The words felt impossible.

"Marital rights?"

Alejandro's expression darkened.

"Explain."

Marcus hesitated.

"Three years ago, after Mrs. Castillo disappeared, Vivian attempted to prove that Elena abandoned the marriage."

Alejandro looked through the pages.

"She wanted a divorce."

"Yes."

"But Elena never signed this."

"No."

Marcus pointed at the signature.

"Someone signed it for her."

The room became silent.

Someone had not only erased Elena.

Someone had tried to legally replace her.

Meanwhile, Elena stood in front of the mirror in the guest room.

For the first time in years, she was wearing her own clothes.

Not a uniform.

Not something chosen for her.

Her own dress.

But strangely...

She still felt like she was pretending.

She touched her reflection.

"Elena Castillo."

She whispered the name.

She had repeated it countless times in the basement.

So she would not forget.

So Vivian would not win.

A knock came at the door.

Alejandro entered.

He stopped when he saw her.

Not because she looked different.

Because for the first time since he found her...

She looked like herself.

"I'm sorry."

Elena looked at him.

"For what?"

"For every day you spent here alone."

Her expression softened.

"Alejandro..."

"No."

He shook his head.

"I need to say this."

A pause.

"I searched everywhere."

His voice broke slightly.

"But I never thought someone would hide you inside our own home."

Elena looked down.

"That was the point."

"What?"

"Vivian knew you would search the world."

She looked at him.

"But she also knew you would never suspect your own family."

That sentence stayed with him.

Because it was true.

The Castillo mansion was supposed to be the safest place in his life.

Instead, it became the place where his wife was erased.

"Tell me about Vivian."

Alejandro said.

Elena became quiet.

"You knew her before me?"

Alejandro frowned.

"No."

"She knew you."

"What?"

Elena sat down.

"She knew everything."

Three years earlier...

Before Elena disappeared, Vivian had already been studying her.

Her habits.

Her weaknesses.

Her relationship with Alejandro.

She knew Elena was the only person Alejandro trusted completely.

And that made her dangerous.

"She told me something before she locked me away."

"What?"

"She said she didn't hate me."

Alejandro looked confused.

"Then what did she want?"

Elena looked at him.

"She wanted to become me."

The answer was worse than hatred.

Because hatred wanted destruction.

But obsession wanted replacement.

Vivian did not want Alejandro dead.

She wanted Elena removed.

She wanted Elena's life.

Her position.

Her identity.

"She said something else."

Elena continued.

"She said I had everything she deserved."

Alejandro's jaw tightened.

"Everything?"

"She believed my marriage was stolen from her."

The truth slowly became clear.

Vivian Moretti had not entered Alejandro's life after Elena disappeared.

She had been waiting.

Planning.

Watching.

That evening, Alejandro confronted Vivian through a secure video call.

She appeared calm.

Too calm.

She sat in a luxury hotel room.

Not someone defeated.

Someone preparing.

"You look angry."

Vivian said.

Alejandro stared at her.

"You stole my wife's identity."

Vivian smiled.

"No."

"I saved your life."

His expression hardened.

"You imprisoned her."

"I removed a weakness."

"She was my wife."

"Exactly."

Vivian leaned closer.

"She was your weakness."

Alejandro felt disgust.

Not because Vivian hated Elena.

Because she truly believed she was right.

"You actually believe this."

"I do."

A pause.

"You built an empire, Alejandro."

"You became powerful because you stopped caring about things that could hurt you."

Her eyes narrowed.

"Then Elena came along."

"She made you soft."

Alejandro's voice became cold.

"No."

"She made me human."

For the first time, Vivian's expression changed.

Only slightly.

But enough.

Because she realized something.

Alejandro was not the same man she manipulated three years ago.

"You think you won."

Vivian whispered.

"But you don't know the whole story."

Alejandro narrowed his eyes.

"What story?"

Vivian smiled.

"The reason Elena disappeared."

Silence.

Alejandro leaned forward.

"You did it."

"I helped."

The answer shocked him.

"Who else was involved?"

Vivian looked away.

"Ask your father."

Alejandro froze.

"My father is dead."

"Dead people leave secrets."

The call ended.

That night, Alejandro returned to Elena.

He found her looking through old photographs.

Their wedding.

Their first home.

The life Vivian tried to steal.

"What did she say?"

Elena asked.

Alejandro hesitated.

Then:

"She said my father knew."

Elena went still.

"About me?"

"I don't know."

For the first time, both of them realized something terrifying.

Vivian was not the beginning of the story.

She was only one chapter.

Someone else had started this.

Someone who had access to the Castillo family.

Someone powerful enough to erase Elena Castillo from the world.

Before sleeping, Alejandro checked his phone.

One new message.

Unknown number.

Only one sentence.

You found your wife. Now find out why she was chosen to disappear.

Alejandro stared at the message.

Because suddenly the question had changed.

They knew who stole Elena's name.

But they still didn't know who ordered her life to be erased.

And the answer was hidden somewhere deeper than Vivian Moretti.

May you like

Much deeper.
