CHAPTER 11

CHAPTER 11

THE TRUTH ABOUT ELENA’S PAST

The world knew Adrian Blackwood as a monster.

A man who could destroy companies with a single decision.

A man who could make powerful people disappear from the business world overnight.

A man who never begged.

Never surrendered.

Never lost.

But that night…

Standing in an empty nursery…

Looking at the place where his son had slept…

Adrian Blackwood was no longer a feared mafia boss.

He was just a father.

A terrified father searching for his family.

The entire city was searching.

Every Blackwood security team.

Every trusted contact.

Every person who owed Adrian a favor.

Nobody stopped.

Nobody slept.

Because everyone understood one thing.

Someone had taken Ethan Blackwood.

And Adrian would burn the entire world to bring him back.

Marcus entered the security room.

"We found something."

Adrian immediately turned.

"Where?"

"Not where."

Marcus placed a file on the table.

"What then?"

"Who."

Adrian opened the file.

Inside was information about Elena's past.

But not the information Victoria had shown.

Something else.

Something hidden.

"Before Michael Voss married Elena..."

Marcus paused.

"He wasn't the first person looking for her."

Adrian frowned.

"What does that mean?"

Marcus placed another document in front of him.

"Someone was watching Elena long before she met you."

Adrian looked through the records.

Old photographs.

Old addresses.

Names he didn't recognize.

Until he saw one.

His expression changed.

"The Carter Foundation."

Marcus nodded.

"Yes."

"Explain."

Years ago, the Carter Foundation was one of the most influential organizations in the country.

It supported hospitals.

Schools.

Charities.

But behind the public image…

There was another side.

A hidden network of powerful families.

Families that controlled information.

Money.

Politics.

Influence.

"Elena's father wasn't just a businessman."

Marcus said.

"He was one of the founders."

Adrian stared at the documents.

"She knew?"

"No."

Marcus shook his head.

"That is the important part."

Elena had not hidden her past because she was guilty.

She had hidden it because she was trying to escape it.

Meanwhile…

Elena woke up in an unfamiliar room.

Her head hurt.

Her hands were tied.

But the first thing she asked was not:

Where am I?

It was:

"Where is Ethan?"

A voice answered from the darkness.

"Still thinking about the child."

Elena looked up.

Michael Voss stepped forward.

Her face went pale.

"Michael."

He smiled.

"After all these years."

She looked around.

"Where is my son?"

Michael laughed softly.

"Your son."

A pause.

"Interesting."

Elena's eyes narrowed.

"What do you want?"

Michael walked closer.

"The same thing I wanted before."

"Control."

She stared at him.

"You never loved me."

Michael smiled.

"No."

The honesty shocked her.

"I wanted your name."

He explained.

After Elena's father died, the Carter family assets became vulnerable.

Michael wanted access.

But Elena disappeared before he could complete his plan.

"You ruined everything."

He whispered.

"You ran."

Elena looked at him coldly.

"No."

A pause.

"I survived."

Michael became angry.

"You always thought you were better than everyone."

Elena laughed quietly.

"No."

"I just knew I deserved better."

That answer angered him more.

Because Elena had something he never had.

A conscience.

A door opened.

Victoria entered.

Elena immediately understood.

They were working together.

"You."

Victoria smiled.

"Surprised?"

"No."

Elena looked at her.

"Disappointed."

Victoria's expression changed.

"You think you are better than me?"

"No."

Elena answered.

"I think you are sad."

Victoria laughed.

"Careful."

She stepped closer.

"You are in no position to insult me."

Elena looked at her.

"You destroyed your own life chasing someone else's."

Silence.

Because Elena had hit the truth.

Victoria wanted Adrian.

Not because she loved him.

Because she wanted proof that she was superior.

She wanted the Blackwood name because it represented everything she believed she deserved.

"Adrian will come."

Victoria said.

Elena remained calm.

"Yes."

A pause.

"And when he does, he will stop you."

Victoria smiled.

"You still believe he loves you?"

Elena looked at her.

"I don't believe."

A pause.

"I know."

Back at the Blackwood mansion…

Adrian discovered the final piece.

A hidden recording.

Found inside Elena's old apartment.

A recording made years ago.

By Elena's father.

Adrian played it.

An older man's voice filled the room.

"Elena."

Everyone became silent.

"If you are hearing this, it means someone found out."

Elena's father continued.

"I failed to protect you from the world I created."

A pause.

"But I need you to know something."

"The Carter family made mistakes."

"But my daughter is not those mistakes."

Adrian closed his eyes.

Because those words confirmed everything.

Elena was innocent.

Then came the final sentence.

The one that changed everything.

"Adrian Blackwood..."

Everyone froze.

Because Elena's father knew his name.

"If you are the man Elena chose..."

A pause.

"Protect her."

Adrian stared at the recording.

How did Elena's father know him?

How did he know Elena would meet him?

Marcus looked confused.

"Boss..."

Adrian didn't answer.

Because another question appeared.

What was the connection between the Carter family and the Blackwoods?

Suddenly, a message arrived.

A video.

From Victoria.

Adrian opened it.

Elena appeared on screen.

Alive.

But frightened.

Beside her was Ethan.

Sleeping.

Adrian's heart stopped.

Victoria appeared.

"Now you know the truth."

She smiled.

"You know Elena was never ordinary."

Adrian watched silently.

Victoria continued:

"But there is one truth you still don't know."

She looked at Elena.

"Ask your wife why your father knew hers."

The video ended.

Adrian stood frozen.

Because Victoria had just revealed something impossible.

Something hidden for decades.

The Blackwoods and Carters were connected.

Not through enemies.

Not through business.

Through history.

And somewhere far away…

Elena looked at Ethan.

Holding back tears.

Because she knew the truth.

The truth she had never told Adrian.

The truth that could change everything.

Before she met Adrian…

Before the marriage.

Before the maid uniform.

Before everything…

Her father had given her one final warning.

"Stay away from the Blackwood family."

May you like

But she had fallen in love with the one man she was never supposed to meet.
