CHAPTER 12

CHAPTER 12

THE FINAL TRAP

The greatest battles were not always fought with weapons.

Sometimes they were fought with secrets.

Sometimes with memories.

Sometimes with the one thing even the strongest person could lose.

Hope.

Adrian Blackwood had spent his entire life preparing for enemies.

He knew how to fight men who wanted his money.

He knew how to defeat people who wanted his empire.

He knew how to destroy anyone who threatened his position.

But Victoria Laurent and Michael Voss had created something different.

They did not attack his businesses.

They attacked his heart.

The video played again.

Elena.

Ethan.

Victoria's final words.

"Ask your wife why your father knew hers."

Everyone in the security room waited for Adrian's reaction.

Marcus knew him better than anyone.

He expected anger.

A threat.

An order.

But Adrian remained silent.

And that was more frightening.

"Find them."

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

Marcus nodded.

"We will."

"No."

Adrian looked at him.

"We won't chase them."

A pause.

"We will make them come to us."

Marcus understood immediately.

A trap.

For years, Adrian had won because he never reacted emotionally.

He made his enemies believe they controlled the game.

Then he changed the rules.

"Prepare everything."

Adrian said.

"But nobody knows."

Marcus frowned.

"Nobody?"

Adrian looked toward the door.

"Not even Elena."

The words hurt him.

Because the woman he loved was still being held captive.

But if Victoria wanted a final game…

Adrian would give her one.

Meanwhile, in the abandoned warehouse…

Elena sat beside Ethan.

Her son was finally asleep.

Even in fear…

Even in danger…

She refused to let him feel afraid.

Michael watched her.

"You are exactly like your father."

Elena looked up.

"What does that mean?"

"He believed kindness was strength."

A bitter smile.

"It made him weak."

Elena stared at him.

"No."

Michael frowned.

"He protected people."

"He lost everything."

"No."

Her voice became stronger.

"He protected what mattered."

Michael laughed.

"You still don't understand."

He stepped closer.

"The world belongs to people willing to take."

Elena looked at Ethan.

Then back at him.

"That is why you will always lose."

For the first time…

Michael looked unsure.

"Why?"

"Because people like you think love is a weakness."

A pause.

"But you don't understand."

"Love is the reason people survive things that should destroy them."

Victoria entered.

She had heard enough.

"Still pretending to be the hero?"

Elena looked at her.

"No."

A pause.

"I'm just not willing to become the villain."

Victoria smiled.

"Your confidence is annoying."

"You know why?"

Elena asked.

Victoria stepped closer.

"Because you have always been lucky."

Elena shook her head.

"No."

"I built my life."

"You had Adrian."

"No."

Elena's eyes hardened.

"I had myself before Adrian."

That answer made Victoria angry.

Because deep down, that was the thing she hated most.

Elena did not need Adrian to have value.

Adrian chose her.

Victoria needed Adrian to prove hers.

Back at the Blackwood mansion…

Adrian prepared everything.

The announcement was simple.

Blackwood Industries would hold a press conference.

A public statement.

A complete explanation about Elena Carter's past.

The news spread immediately.

Victoria smiled when she saw it.

"He's desperate."

Michael looked at the screen.

"Or he's planning something."

Victoria ignored him.

"Adrian Blackwood doesn't expose weakness."

A pause.

"He must be breaking."

She didn't know.

That was exactly what Adrian wanted her to believe.

The next morning…

The entire city watched.

Adrian stood before cameras.

The world expected a scandal.

A divorce announcement.

A public rejection.

Instead…

Adrian said:

"My wife, Elena Blackwood, has been attacked by lies."

The reporters became silent.

Adrian continued.

"People have used her past against her."

"They have judged her for things she never did."

A reporter asked:

"Mr. Blackwood, are you saying the accusations are false?"

Adrian looked directly at the cameras.

"I am saying Elena Carter Blackwood is the strongest woman I know."

Across the city…

Victoria's smile disappeared.

Adrian continued.

"She protected my family when others failed."

"She stood beside me when I had nothing to offer except my name."

"And she is the mother of my son."

The final sentence was delivered clearly.

"Anyone who threatens her threatens me."

Victoria stood up.

"He knows."

Michael looked at her.

"What?"

"He knows."

Her confidence cracked.

Then Adrian revealed the final piece.

"We have evidence."

A pause.

"Evidence showing who created these lies."

The screen behind him changed.

Security footage.

Bank transfers.

Messages.

Every piece of Victoria and Michael's plan.

The room exploded.

Victoria stared at the screen.

Impossible.

Impossible.

Then Adrian's phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

Victoria.

"You trapped me."

Her voice was cold.

Adrian smiled slightly.

"No."

A pause.

"You trapped yourself."

"You think this ends here?"

Victoria asked.

"You think exposing me changes anything?"

Adrian looked toward the cameras.

"No."

His voice became colder.

"Because I don't need the world to punish you."

A pause.

"I need you to bring my family back."

Victoria was silent.

Because she understood.

The evidence was not the final move.

She was.

"Where are they?"

Adrian asked.

Victoria laughed.

"You think I will just tell you?"

"No."

Adrian replied.

"I think you will."

"Why?"

"Because Michael Voss doesn't trust you."

Silence.

Victoria's expression changed.

Adrian continued.

"You partnered with a man who would betray you the moment he got what he wanted."

He was right.

Michael had never cared about Victoria.

He only used her access.

"You don't know that."

Adrian smiled.

"I know people."

And he did.

Meanwhile, Michael watched the broadcast.

His face became angry.

"She failed."

He looked at Elena.

"Your husband is smarter than I expected."

Elena said nothing.

Because for the first time…

She felt hope.

Michael received a message.

From Victoria.

WE NEED TO MEET. ALONE.

He smiled.

"Finally."

But he did not know…

Victoria was not going to meet him.

She was going to betray him.

And Adrian knew.

Because the final trap was not built to catch Victoria.

It was built to make the enemies destroy each other.

That night, in an abandoned warehouse…

Victoria arrived.

Michael waited.

"You look nervous."

Victoria smiled.

"I am not nervous."

A pause.

"I am disappointed."

Michael frowned.

"About what?"

"About trusting the wrong person."

Before Michael could react…

The lights turned on.

Every exit was blocked.

Security surrounded the building.

Michael looked around.

Then laughed.

"Adrian."

Victoria smiled.

"No."

A pause.

"Elena."

Michael froze.

Because behind the security team…

Elena walked forward.

Holding Ethan.

Alive.

Safe.

His eyes widened.

"How?"

Elena looked at him.

"You forgot something."

A pause.

"You spent so much time studying my weaknesses..."

She looked at Adrian.

"But you never understood my strength."

Adrian stepped beside her.

"My family."

The trap was complete.

But before anyone could celebrate…

A gunshot echoed through the warehouse.

Everyone froze.

The lights went out.

A shadow moved.

Someone grabbed Ethan.

And when the lights returned…

Michael was gone.

Victoria stared in horror.

Because she understood.

They had not caught the real enemy.

Adrian held Elena's hand.

His expression darkened.

"Who was that?"

Nobody answered.

Because the final enemy…

Had been watching the entire time.

May you like

And he had just taken Adrian Blackwood's son.
