Chapter 10

Chapter 10
The Fall of the Moretti Empire
Empires do not collapse in a single day.
They fall slowly.
A crack here.
A betrayal there.
A secret revealed at the wrong moment.
And then one day...
The world looks at something that seemed invincible and realizes it was never unbreakable.
For generations, the Moretti name represented power.
Respect.
Fear.
But now...
The name that once opened every door was becoming the name everyone whispered about.
The first attack came before sunrise.
Not with weapons.
Not with violence.
With information.
Every major news channel received the same package.
Thousands of pages.
Financial records.
Private conversations.
Photographs.
Documents that appeared to prove the Moretti family had hidden scandals for decades.
The headline spread across the world.
MORETTI DYNASTY ACCUSED OF FAMILY FRAUD AND SECRET INHERITANCE WAR
Within hours...
Investors panicked.
Partners withdrew.
The stock market reacted.
Companies that had spent decades building relationships with the Morettis suddenly wanted distance.
The empire was bleeding.
Alessandro stood inside the executive office of Moretti Holdings, watching the city below.
The same city that once celebrated him.
The same city that now waited to see him fall.
"How bad?"
He asked.
His financial director hesitated.
"Several major investors are requesting emergency meetings."
"And?"
"If they continue withdrawing..."
A pause.
"We could lose control of the company."
Years ago, those words would have terrified him.
Today...
They didn't.
Because Alessandro had learned something important.
An empire was not what made a family.
A family was what remained after the empire disappeared.
But not everyone understood that.
At the Moretti mansion, relatives who had spent years benefiting from the family name suddenly appeared.
Cousins.
Uncles.
Former allies.
People Alessandro had not heard from in years.
Everyone wanted answers.
Everyone wanted protection.
Everyone wanted someone to blame.
And most of them blamed Clara.
"The maid brought this disaster."
One family member said.
"She hid the child."
"She exposed Vanessa."
"She brought Luca back."
Clara heard every word.
But she said nothing.
Because she knew something Alessandro also knew.
People who love power do not care about truth.
They care about losing it.
That evening, Alessandro found Clara sitting alone in the garden.
The same garden where Emma used to play.
"You heard them."
It wasn't a question.
Clara nodded.
"They're right about one thing."
Alessandro looked at her.
"What?"
"I brought secrets into this family."
He sat beside her.
"No."
She looked surprised.
"No?"
"No."
His voice was firm.
"You brought the truth."
Clara looked away.
"Truth destroys things."
"Sometimes."
Alessandro answered.
"But lies destroy people."
For a moment...
Neither spoke.
Then Emma ran across the garden.
"Uncle Alessandro!"
She carried a drawing.
He smiled immediately.
"What did you make?"
She held it up proudly.
A picture of three people.
Her.
Clara.
Alessandro.
At the bottom, written in messy letters:
MY FAMILY
Alessandro stared.
Something inside him broke.
Not from sadness.
From realization.
For years, he had protected an empire.
Now...
A three-year-old child had shown him what truly mattered.
But the moment didn't last.
Because his phone rang.
Victor Hale.
Alessandro answered.
"What do you want?"
Victor laughed softly.
"You sound tired."
Alessandro's expression hardened.
"You attacked my company."
"No."
Victor replied.
"I revealed your company."
A pause.
"You built a beautiful empire, Alessandro."
"Unfortunately..."
"It was built on secrets."
Alessandro looked at Emma.
Then at Clara.
"What is your goal?"
Victor laughed.
"My goal?"
A pause.
"To return what was stolen."
"You mean take what isn't yours."
Victor's voice became colder.
"You still don't understand."
Then he sent a file.
A document.
An old inheritance agreement.
The same one Luca had shown him.
But with another signature.
Alessandro stared.
Because the signature belonged to Matteo Moretti.
Impossible.
Victor spoke.
"Your father knew."
"Knew what?"
"That you were never supposed to inherit everything."
The call ended.
Alessandro stared at the document.
Another secret.
Another lie.
He immediately called Detective Reynolds.
"We need to verify this."
Two hours later...
The results came back.
The document was real.
Everyone gathered in the study.
Luca.
Clara.
Alessandro.
The detective placed the document on the table.
"There is something you need to know."
Silence.
"The Moretti inheritance was never meant to go only to Alessandro."
Luca looked down.
"It was divided."
Alessandro frowned.
"Between us?"
The detective shook his head.
"No."
Everyone froze.
"Between three heirs."
A cold feeling passed through the room.
"Who is the third?"
Nobody answered.
Then the detective placed another document on the table.
A birth record.
The name was hidden.
But the date was clear.
A child born twenty years ago.
Alessandro looked at Clara.
She had gone completely pale.
"You know."
He whispered.
Clara closed her eyes.
Because she knew this moment would come.
"There was another child."
Luca stared.
"Another child?"
Clara nodded.
"Your father's final secret."
Before anyone could ask more...
The mansion alarms activated.
Security rushed in.
"Sir!"
Alessandro stood.
"What happened?"
The guard looked terrified.
"We found someone inside the property."
"Who?"
The guard swallowed.
"A woman."
Everyone became alert.
"She says..."
The guard continued.
"She is Matteo Moretti's daughter."
Silence.
A daughter nobody knew existed.
A third heir.
Another secret buried beneath the Moretti empire.
Alessandro slowly looked at Luca.
Then Clara.
Then the documents.
Twenty years ago, one murder built the empire.
Now...
Another hidden heir threatened to destroy it.
And somewhere in the darkness outside the mansion...
Victor Hale smiled.
May you like
Because the collapse of the Moretti empire had only just begun.
