Chapter 10 – Public Humiliation

Chapter 10 – Public Humiliation

By sunrise, Sinclair Global was in chaos.

Thousands of employees arrived at work only to find their security badges deactivated.

Corporate bank accounts were frozen.

The company's internal network displayed only a single black screen.

Across it, white letters slowly appeared.

THE EMPIRE HAS FALLEN.

Within minutes, the image was shared across every social media platform.

The attack spread faster than any official response.

The Nation Turns

Every television channel carried the same headline.

SINCLAIR DYNASTY IN FREE FALL

Commentators debated Adrian's legitimacy.

Some called him a victim.

Most called him a fraud.

Old photographs of Edward Sinclair filled the screen.

Alongside them were forged documents claiming Adrian had secretly laundered billions through offshore accounts.

The evidence looked convincing.

Too convincing.

Detective Daniel Mercer watched the broadcast in silence.

"They're mixing truth with lies."

Helen Brooks nodded.

"That's what makes propaganda dangerous."

The Shareholders Revolt

Sinclair Global's emergency shareholders' meeting became a battlefield.

The grand conference hall was packed with furious investors.

One elderly shareholder slammed his fist against the table.

"You've destroyed everything!"

Another stood.

"We demand Adrian Sinclair resign immediately!"

Others shouted over one another.

"Freeze his voting rights!"

"Sell the company!"

"Appoint emergency management!"

Adrian remained seated.

He listened without interrupting.

Finally, he stood.

"If I resign today..."

"...you'll believe every lie they created."

A woman near the front answered sharply.

"And if you stay?"

Adrian looked around the room.

"They win anyway."

The silence that followed was heavier than the shouting.

The Leaked Video

That afternoon, another anonymous video appeared online.

This time...

It showed Adrian arguing with Edward Sinclair years earlier.

The footage had clearly been edited.

Edward's voice was missing.

Only Adrian remained visible, appearing angry and aggressive.

The final frame displayed a caption:

HE ALWAYS WANTED THE EMPIRE.

News outlets replayed the clip endlessly.

No one questioned whether it had been manipulated.

Lily watched the broadcast from the police safe house.

"They're rewriting history."

Mercer answered quietly.

"They're counting on people never asking for the full recording."

Ethan's Decision

Outside the repair garage, reporters surrounded Ethan Hayes.

"Are you the real Sinclair heir?"

"Will you claim the company?"

"Do you want Adrian arrested?"

Microphones crowded his face.

Flashing cameras blinded him.

Ethan took a deep breath.

"I grew up fixing engines."

"I don't know anything about boardrooms."

A reporter interrupted.

"But legally, the company could belong to you."

Ethan shook his head.

"I didn't come looking for money."

"I came looking for the truth."

Another reporter shouted,

"Do you hate Adrian?"

Ethan looked directly into the cameras.

"Why would I hate another victim?"

The interview spread across the country.

Many viewers expected jealousy.

Instead...

They saw compassion.

Lily Is Targeted Again

As public opinion slowly softened toward Adrian and Ethan, a new rumor appeared online.

This time, it targeted Lily.

Anonymous accounts claimed she had accepted millions of dollars to help stage the poisoning.

Fake bank statements appeared.

Fabricated text messages.

Even edited security footage.

Crowds gathered outside her apartment.

Some threw eggs.

Others shouted insults.

"Murderer!"

"Gold digger!"

"Actress!"

Police barely managed to escort her away.

That night, Lily sat quietly inside the safe house.

"I've never wanted fame."

She stared at the television.

"Yet somehow..."

"The whole country knows my name."

Margaret gently took her hand.

"They know a lie."

"Not you."

A Friend Becomes an Enemy

Late that evening, Adrian received an unexpected visitor.

Marcus Donovan.

His oldest business partner.

His closest friend after Richard.

Marcus entered the office without smiling.

"I have to protect my shareholders."

Adrian already knew.

"You're ending our partnership."

Marcus nodded.

"I'm sorry."

"If I stay with Sinclair Global..."

"My company collapses too."

Adrian slowly stood.

"I understand."

Marcus hesitated before leaving.

At the door, he quietly said,

"I hope you're innocent."

Then he walked away.

Adrian remained alone in the dark office.

Another piece of his life had fallen apart.

Helen Finds the Pattern

While reviewing hundreds of leaked files, Helen noticed something unusual.

Every forged document contained the same microscopic formatting error.

A tiny space before every semicolon.

Invisible to ordinary readers.

She compared dozens of files.

The same mistake appeared every time.

Mercer frowned.

"What does it mean?"

Helen smiled for the first time that day.

"It means all these leaks came from the same editing software."

She opened an archived corporate file from twenty-five years earlier.

The exact formatting appeared again.

Samuel looked over her shoulder.

His expression froze.

"I know that software."

Mercer turned.

"Where?"

Samuel answered quietly.

"It was created for only one client."

"The Director."

Richard's Reward

Far from the city, Richard entered a luxurious estate hidden behind iron gates.

The mysterious man known only as The Director sat beside a fireplace.

Without looking up, he asked,

"Did Adrian suffer?"

Richard smiled.

"More than I expected."

The Director poured two glasses of wine.

"You've done well."

Richard accepted the glass.

"So..."

"When do I receive what you promised?"

The Director finally looked at him.

A calm smile crossed his face.

"You already have."

Richard frowned.

"What do you mean?"

The Director raised his glass.

"You've outlived your usefulness."

Before Richard could react—

A silenced gunshot echoed through the room.

Richard dropped his wine glass.

His eyes widened in disbelief.

He collapsed onto the polished wooden floor.

The Director calmly watched him die.

Then whispered,

"No loose ends."

The Ultimate Humiliation

The next morning, millions gathered online to watch an emergency government hearing on Sinclair Global.

Adrian entered the courthouse surrounded by reporters.

Questions came from every direction.

"Did you steal your identity?"

"Are you resigning today?"

"Did your father murder innocent people?"

Adrian answered none of them.

As he reached the courthouse steps...

Every giant digital billboard across the city suddenly changed.

The government seal disappeared.

In its place appeared a single image.

A childhood photograph of Adrian.

Beside it...

A baby photograph of Ethan.

Across both pictures, massive red letters declared:

ONE OF THEM STOLE A LIFE.

The crowd erupted.

People began shouting.

Some pushed through the police barriers.

Others threw bottles toward the courthouse entrance.

Mercer looked up at the billboards.

"This isn't about exposing the truth anymore."

Helen nodded grimly.

"It's about making sure no one believes the truth when it finally comes."

Inside a dark control room somewhere in the city, The Director watched the riots unfold on dozens of monitors.

He smiled.

Then turned toward a locked steel cabinet.

Inside rested a faded hospital file labeled:

PROJECT GENESIS – FINAL SUBJECT

He whispered to himself,

"Now..."

May you like

"...it's time to reveal the child no one has been searching for."
