Chapter 11 – The Last Deal

Chapter 11 – The Last Deal

The riots outside the courthouse had barely been brought under control when every television screen inside the building suddenly flickered.

Court proceedings stopped.

Judges looked up in confusion.

Lawyers reached for their phones.

Then the same symbol appeared on every monitor.

A black raven.

The emblem Detective Mercer had seen engraved on the mysterious signet ring.

A distorted voice echoed through the courtroom.

"Good afternoon, Adrian Sinclair."

The entire nation was watching.

A Message to One Man

The voice continued.

"You've spent weeks chasing ghosts."

"Looking through old files."

"Digging up buried secrets."

"But you've still failed to ask the only question that matters."

Adrian stood motionless.

The screen changed.

It now displayed the encrypted flash drive Richard had carried at the wedding.

Except...

It wasn't in police custody.

It was spinning slowly on the screen as if someone had copied every byte of its contents.

The voice laughed.

"You never possessed the only copy."

Helen Brooks whispered,

"Impossible..."

Samuel slowly shook his head.

"No."

"I should have expected this."

The Impossible Offer

The image shifted again.

This time, the Director's silhouette appeared.

His face remained hidden in darkness.

"I have something you want."

"The complete Genesis Archive."

Every investigator in the courtroom exchanged stunned looks.

Mercer whispered,

"There are more files."

The Director nodded as though he had heard him.

"There are thousands more."

"The flash drive Richard carried was only an index."

Adrian finally spoke.

"What do you want?"

The Director smiled.

"Your empire."

Silence.

"Transfer every share of Sinclair Global."

"Resign permanently."

"Disappear from public life."

"And I'll give you the truth."

Helen immediately stepped forward.

"Don't answer."

But Adrian kept his eyes on the screen.

"And if I refuse?"

The Director's voice became ice cold.

"Then the people you love will begin disappearing."

A Familiar Face

Just as the transmission ended...

Samuel suddenly grabbed the edge of the table.

His breathing became uneven.

"I know that voice."

Mercer looked at him.

"Who is it?"

Samuel closed his eyes.

"I've heard it before."

"Thirty years ago."

He struggled to remember.

"It belonged to..."

Before he could finish...

He collapsed.

Between Life and Death

Doctors rushed Samuel to the hospital.

The diagnosis came quickly.

Extreme stress had triggered a serious heart condition.

Adrian sat beside his hospital bed.

Machines beeped steadily.

Samuel slowly opened his eyes.

"I don't have much time."

"Don't say that."

Samuel smiled weakly.

"I've spent thirty years running."

"I'm tired."

He reached beneath his pillow.

From a small envelope, he removed an old black-and-white photograph.

Not scratched.

Not damaged.

Perfectly preserved.

It showed Edward Sinclair standing beside another man.

This time...

The man's face was completely visible.

Adrian stared in disbelief.

"I know him."

Mercer looked closer.

"So do I."

The man was Charles Whitmore.

The former chairman of Sinclair Global's board.

Officially...

He had died twenty-two years earlier.

A Dead Man's Signature

Helen rushed to the company archives.

She searched every corporate record bearing Charles Whitmore's name.

Most had been sealed decades ago.

Then she found something impossible.

A document filed only three weeks earlier.

Signed electronically.

Charles Whitmore.

She checked again.

The signature had passed every government verification system.

Someone legally declared dead...

Had just authorized the transfer of billions of dollars.

Helen immediately called Mercer.

"Charles Whitmore is alive."

Lily's Decision

While everyone focused on the company...

Lily quietly left the safe house.

Margaret caught her at the front door.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to end this."

"You can't face him alone."

Lily smiled sadly.

"I don't think this has ever been about Adrian."

Margaret frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Lily held up the silver locket.

"Every clue."

"Every attack."

"Every secret."

"They always lead back to me."

Margaret's expression slowly changed.

For the first time...

She realized Lily might be right.

Ethan Refuses the Empire

News of the Director's offer spread quickly.

Reporters surrounded Ethan once again.

"Will you accept ownership if Adrian refuses?"

Ethan looked exhausted.

"I've said it before."

"I don't want the company."

"But legally—"

"I don't care."

He looked directly into the cameras.

"If building an empire requires destroying families..."

"...then it's not worth inheriting."

His words went viral.

For the first time since the scandal began...

Public sympathy shifted dramatically.

People began questioning whether Adrian and Ethan had both been victims.

The Director had underestimated one thing.

Honesty.

The Secret Meeting

That night...

Adrian received an encrypted message.

Only one sentence.

Come alone if you want the Genesis Archive.

Attached were GPS coordinates.

An abandoned opera house.

Midnight.

Against everyone's advice...

Adrian went.

The grand theater was empty.

Dust covered the velvet seats.

One spotlight illuminated the stage.

A leather briefcase rested beneath it.

Adrian walked forward cautiously.

The Director's voice echoed through hidden speakers.

"Open it."

Inside the briefcase was a contract.

Every share of Sinclair Global.

Already prepared for transfer.

Beside it lay a hard drive labeled:

GENESIS – COMPLETE

Adrian looked around.

"Show yourself."

Instead...

The curtain behind him slowly rose.

A giant screen lit up.

On it appeared live surveillance footage.

Lily.

Bound to a chair.

Blindfolded.

Somewhere unknown.

The Director spoke calmly.

"You have exactly ten minutes."

"Sign the company over..."

"...or she dies."

Adrian's hands tightened around the contract.

His heart pounded.

The countdown clock on the screen began ticking backward.

09:59

09:58

09:57

Far away in a dark warehouse...

Lily slowly opened her eyes.

She wasn't alone.

A man stepped out of the shadows.

He removed his gloves.

Looked directly at her.

And smiled.

May you like

"Hello, Claire."
