Chapter 4 – The Hidden Bloodline

THE LITTLE GIRL WHO SAVED HER FATHER

Chapter 4 – The Hidden Bloodline

The message on the screen remained for only five seconds.

Five seconds.

But it was enough.

Enough for every person inside the boardroom to understand one thing.

This was no longer a corporate battle.

It was a war.

A war that had started long before Ethan Blackwood was born.

The screen went dark.

The room stayed silent.

Nobody dared move.

Nobody dared speak.

Because the man standing at the center of the room was no longer hiding.

Richard Vale.

Ethan’s closest friend.

His most trusted advisor.

The man who had helped build Blackwood International into a global empire.

The man who had stood beside Ethan at his father’s funeral.

The man who had held Ethan’s shoulder and said:

"You are not alone."

Now Ethan finally understood.

The person who had promised to stand beside him…

Had been standing behind him with a knife.

“Richard.”

Ethan’s voice was almost unrecognizable.

Not angry.

Not loud.

Just empty.

“How long?”

Richard looked at him.

“Since before you became CEO.”

The answer shocked everyone.

Victor smiled slightly.

A smile that told Ethan something important.

They had been working together for years.

Not months.

Not after the fire.

Years.

“You and Victor planned this together.”

Richard walked toward the table.

“Not exactly.”

Victor looked at him.

Richard continued:

“Victor wanted control.”

“I wanted correction.”

Ethan frowned.

“Correction?”

Richard looked around the room.

“At this family.”

Nobody understood.

Except Amelia.

Her face changed.

“No…”

Everyone turned.

Ethan looked at his wife.

“What?”

Amelia stared at Richard.

“You know.”

Richard smiled.

“Of course she knows.”

Ethan felt a cold wave pass through him.

“What are you talking about?”

Richard reached into his jacket.

He pulled out an old envelope.

Yellowed.

Damaged.

Clearly decades old.

He placed it on the table.

“This is the truth about the Blackwood bloodline.”

Ethan opened the envelope.

Inside were several documents.

The first page was an old family record.

But the second page made him freeze.

A name.

A name that should not exist.

Alexander Vale.

His eyes moved to Richard.

“What is this?”

Richard smiled.

“My grandfather.”

Ethan looked confused.

“Your grandfather?”

“Yes.”

“Why would your grandfather be in my family records?”

Richard leaned forward.

“Because my grandfather was supposed to inherit Blackwood International.”

The room became silent.

Victor crossed his arms.

He already knew.

Richard continued.

“Seventy years ago, your grandfather changed the inheritance agreement.”

“He removed my family branch.”

“Why?”

“Because he believed we were unworthy.”

Richard laughed softly.

“He said the Vale family cared too much about power.”

Ethan stared.

“And he was right?”

Richard’s smile disappeared.

“No.”

“He was wrong.”

“We cared about legacy.”

Amelia stepped forward.

“You are talking about something that happened generations ago.”

Richard looked at her.

“You survived seven years underground.”

“You should know better than anyone.”

“What?”

“That old wounds do not disappear.”

“They wait.”

Ethan looked between them.

“So this was revenge?”

Richard shook his head.

“No.”

“This was restoration.”

He pointed toward Victor.

“Victor wanted the company.”

“I wanted the truth.”

Ethan laughed bitterly.

“You burned my family because you wanted truth?”

Richard’s expression hardened.

“I did not start the fire.”

Everyone turned.

Richard looked at Victor.

“I only helped hide the consequences.”

The room changed.

Even Victor looked uncomfortable.

“You are saying Victor acted alone?”

Richard smiled.

“Victor was always impatient.”

Victor’s eyes narrowed.

“Careful.”

Richard ignored him.

“He wanted Ethan removed.”

“He wanted Amelia gone.”

“He wanted Lily erased.”

“But he never understood something.”

“What?”

Richard looked at Ethan.

“Lily was never just an heir.”

Ethan felt a strange fear.

“What does that mean?”

Richard pointed at Lily.

The little girl immediately stepped closer to Ethan.

“Ask Amelia.”

Everyone looked at her.

Amelia became pale.

“Richard…”

“Tell him.”

Ethan turned.

“Amelia?”

His wife looked at Lily.

Then at Ethan.

For seven years, she had carried this secret.

Now she finally had to release it.

“When I was pregnant…”

She stopped.

Her voice trembled.

“Doctors found something unusual.”

Ethan frowned.

“Unusual?”

Amelia nodded.

“They tested the baby.”

“Why?”

“Because of a family medical history.”

She looked at Ethan.

“Your grandfather had a rare genetic marker.”

Ethan stared.

“What are you saying?”

Amelia took a breath.

“I’m saying Lily carries something that proves the true Blackwood bloodline.”

Silence.

Richard smiled.

“Exactly.”

Victor suddenly slammed his hand onto the table.

“Enough.”

Everyone turned.

His calm mask was gone.

For the first time, they saw anger.

Real anger.

“You are making this complicated.”

Victor pointed at Lily.

“She is a child.”

“She has no idea what she represents.”

Ethan stepped forward.

“She represents my daughter.”

Victor laughed.

“That is all you think?”

He looked at Lily.

“You have no idea what your birth means.”

Lily hid behind Ethan.

Ethan’s voice became dangerous.

“Do not talk to her.”

Victor ignored him.

“Your grandfather created a bloodline requirement.”

“The company cannot belong to anyone outside the original Blackwood line.”

“Lily’s DNA is the final proof.”

Richard nodded.

“That is why she had to disappear.”

Ethan’s face hardened.

“You both tried to kill a child.”

Richard looked away.

For a brief moment…

A small trace of guilt appeared.

But it vanished quickly.

Then Amelia spoke.

“There is something you both don’t know.”

Everyone turned.

Amelia walked toward the table.

“When Victor took me…”

“He did not keep me alive because I knew about the company.”

“He kept me alive because I knew about another child.”

Richard’s expression changed.

“What?”

Victor became still.

Amelia continued:

“Before the fire…”

“There was another pregnancy.”

Ethan looked shocked.

“What?”

Amelia looked at him.

“Your father had another child.”

The room went silent.

A secret buried for decades.

A child nobody knew existed.

A hidden branch of the Blackwood family.

Richard whispered:

“That’s impossible.”

Amelia shook her head.

“No.”

“It is the reason your grandfather changed the inheritance rules.”

Ethan stared.

“Who is this child?”

Amelia looked toward the old documents.

Then she said:

“Someone who has been searching for the Blackwood empire for thirty years.”

Suddenly, the boardroom doors opened.

Everyone turned.

A woman stood there.

Around forty years old.

Elegant.

Calm.

Holding a folder.

She looked directly at Ethan.

Then at Lily.

And smiled.

“I believe you have been looking for me.”

Nobody moved.

Ethan felt his heart race.

“Who are you?”

The woman stepped inside.

“My name is Clara Blackwood.”

A pause.

“And I am your half-sister.”

The room exploded.

Victor stepped backward.

Richard looked terrified.

Because for the first time…

Neither of them expected this.

Clara placed the folder on the table.

“I know what happened seven years ago.”

“I know who started the fire.”

“And I know why Victor and Richard are desperate to erase Lily.”

She looked at the little girl.

“Because she is not the only person with a claim to the Blackwood legacy.”

Ethan stared.

“Then why help us?”

Clara smiled.

“Because I don’t want the company.”

A pause.

“I want the people who destroyed this family to pay.”

At that moment, every phone inside the room received the same notification.

A breaking news alert.

Everyone checked their screens.

The headline appeared:

BLACKWOOD HEIR ACCUSED OF KIDNAPPING CHILD AND FAKING WIFE’S RETURN

Below it:

A photo of Ethan.

A photo of Lily.

A photo of Amelia.

The world had already chosen its story.

Victor had moved first.

Again.

Ethan looked at Clara.

Then at Amelia.

Then at Lily.

He finally understood.

The war was no longer about saving his company.

It was about saving his family.

And destroying everyone who tried to erase them.
