CHAPTER 13 — THE FALL OF ISABELLA ROSSI

CHAPTER 13 — THE FALL OF ISABELLA ROSSI

By eight in the morning, the entire city was talking about the fire.

By nine, every major news network had the same headline.

THORNE HOSPITAL DESTROYED IN SUSPICIOUS FIRE.

By ten, rumors had become accusations.

Someone had deliberately disabled the sprinklers.

Someone had locked the emergency exits.

Someone had destroyed the hospital's security archive.

Someone had tried to erase evidence.

But no one knew the most important fact.

The evidence had survived.

Khloe sat inside a small conference room across from Marcus, Nathan, and Elena.

On the table were three things.

The first USB.

The second USB.

And the burned fragment of the original succession agreement.

Khloe stared at them.

“We stop hiding.”

Marcus looked at her.

“What do you mean?”

“We release everything.”

Nathan nodded slowly.

“All of it?”

“Everything.”

“The recordings?”

“Yes.”

“The financial records?”

“Yes.”

“The DNA report?”

“Yes.”

“The documents showing Isabella's involvement?”

Khloe's expression hardened.

“Especially those.”

Elena watched her carefully.

“You understand what happens after that?”

Khloe looked at her.

“Yes.”

“The Thorne family collapses.”

“I know.”

“Marcus could lose everything.”

Khloe looked at her husband.

Marcus didn't hesitate.

“I already lost everything that mattered when I let them destroy her.”

Khloe looked away.

For the first time in months, she believed him.

Not because he had said the right words.

Because he was finally willing to lose everything rather than protect the lie.

Nathan opened his laptop.

“Then let's end it.”

THE FIRST RECORDING

At 11:17 a.m., an anonymous video appeared online.

No name.

No explanation.

Just a file.

HOSPITAL SUITE — 11:42 P.M.

Within minutes, thousands of people watched it.

The footage showed Isabella entering Khloe's suite.

Khloe standing near the window.

Isabella approaching.

Words were exchanged.

Then the attack.

The shove.

The second shove.

The kick.

Khloe falling.

The shattered glass.

Isabella standing over her.

And finally—

Marcus entering.

The video ended.

There was no commentary.

No accusation.

No dramatic music.

Just the truth.

People watched it again.

And again.

Within thirty minutes, the footage had been reposted across every major platform.

Within an hour, Isabella Rossi's name was trending.

By noon, the public had reached its verdict.

She lied.

THE PERFECT LIE COLLAPSES

Isabella had once been untouchable.

She belonged to a family whose name opened doors.

Her face appeared on magazine covers.

She attended charity galas.

She sat beside politicians.

She donated millions.

She smiled for cameras.

And she had spent years building an image of elegance.

Now the same cameras showed something else.

Cruelty.

Manipulation.

Violence.

The witness she had produced was questioned by investigators.

His story changed three times.

Then Nathan released the second recording.

The witness was shown meeting Isabella two hours before the attack.

Money changed hands.

A second phone was exchanged.

And the final audio captured his voice.

“She said you'd pay me twice if I lied.”

The city exploded.

Isabella's carefully constructed story disappeared overnight.

But Khloe wasn't finished.

THE FINANCIAL FILES

At 2:03 p.m., a second folder was released.

ROSSI FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS.

The documents showed payments from Isabella's private accounts to shell companies.

Those companies had transferred money to:

Private investigators.

Hospital employees.

Fake witnesses.

Media consultants.

And one mysterious offshore account.

Khloe stared at the screen.

“That account.”

Nathan nodded.

“Helena.”

“No.”

Elena looked closer.

“Not Helena.”

Everyone turned toward her.

“Then who?”

Elena pointed to the account holder.

R.T. HOLDINGS.

Marcus's face changed.

“Richard.”

Nathan nodded.

“The fourth Thorne.”

Khloe stared.

Isabella hadn't been acting alone.

But the money trail showed something else.

She had been receiving instructions from Richard.

And Richard had been receiving money from someone above him.

Khloe whispered:

“There's another layer.”

Nathan looked at her.

“There always was.”

ISABELLA'S PRESS CONFERENCE

At 4:00 p.m., Isabella appeared before the cameras.

She wore black.

No jewelry.

No smile.

Her lawyers stood behind her.

The room was packed.

Reporters shouted questions.

“Did you attack Khloe Thorne?”

“Did you pay the witness?”

“Did you falsify the DNA report?”

“Did you work for Richard Thorne?”

Isabella raised her hand.

The room quieted.

“I made mistakes.”

Khloe watched from the conference room.

Marcus stood beside her.

Isabella continued.

“I was manipulated.”

A reporter shouted:

“By whom?”

Isabella hesitated.

Then said:

“By people more powerful than me.”

The room erupted.

“Who?”

“Name them!”

“Was Richard Thorne involved?”

Isabella looked toward the cameras.

“Yes.”

The reporters exploded.

But Isabella wasn't finished.

“I was told Khloe was dangerous.”

“I was told she was trying to steal the Thorne fortune.”

“I was told the child would destroy the family.”

Khloe's expression hardened.

Isabella continued.

“I believed them.”

Then she looked directly into the camera.

“And I was wrong.”

Silence.

“I hurt an innocent woman.”

“I lied.”

“I paid people to lie for me.”

“I helped destroy evidence.”

“And I will answer for it.”

Marcus looked at Khloe.

“She just confessed.”

Khloe shook her head.

“Not everything.”

THE FINAL RECORDING

At 4:37 p.m., Khloe released the last recording.

The room went silent.

Isabella was sitting in a private office.

Across from her was a man.

His face wasn't visible.

Only his voice.

“Did you finish?”

“Yes.”

“Is Khloe alive?”

“Yes.”

A pause.

“That was a mistake.”

“I didn't know she would survive.”

“Then fix it.”

“I can't.”

“You will.”

Then the man's voice became colder.

“Remember what happens if you fail.”

Isabella began crying.

“I don't want to do this anymore.”

“You don't have a choice.”

“Who are you?”

The man laughed.

“You already know.”

The recording ended.

Khloe watched Marcus.

His face was pale.

“That voice.”

He nodded.

“I know.”

“Who?”

Marcus looked at Elena.

She whispered:

“Your father.”

THE FALL

Within hours, warrants were issued.

Isabella's accounts were frozen.

Her companies were investigated.

Her family issued statements.

Her friends disappeared.

The people who had once photographed themselves beside her now refused to answer questions.

The woman who had spent years humiliating Khloe had become a public symbol of betrayal.

But Khloe didn't celebrate.

She watched the news in silence.

Marcus sat beside her.

“You okay?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because she wasn't the beginning.”

Marcus understood.

“And she wasn't the end.”

Khloe nodded.

“She was just another person being used.”

Marcus looked at the screen.

Isabella was being escorted from her family's mansion.

Reporters surrounded her.

She lowered her head.

For the first time, she looked small.

Not powerful.

Not dangerous.

Just broken.

Khloe whispered:

“I hate what she did.”

Marcus looked at her.

“But?”

“But I don't think she was born cruel.”

She turned away.

“Someone taught her.”

ISABELLA'S LAST SECRET

That night, Isabella requested to speak with Khloe.

Khloe almost refused.

Then she changed her mind.

They met inside a secure interview room.

No cameras.

No lawyers.

Just the two women.

Isabella sat across from her.

“I deserve prison.”

Khloe said nothing.

“I know that.”

“You attacked me.”

“Yes.”

“You tried to destroy my marriage.”

“Yes.”

“You lied about my child.”

“Yes.”

“You helped people manipulate my husband.”

Isabella looked down.

“Yes.”

Khloe leaned forward.

“Then why did you ask to see me?”

Isabella slowly reached into her coat.

She placed a small envelope on the table.

“I found this in Helena's private files.”

Khloe didn't touch it.

“What is it?”

“Your mother's handwriting.”

Khloe's heart stopped.

“Where did you get it?”

“Helena.”

“Why give it to me?”

“Because I finally understand.”

“Understand what?”

Isabella looked at her.

“I was never supposed to marry Marcus.”

Khloe frowned.

“Then why?”

Isabella's voice dropped.

“I was supposed to make him hate you.”

Khloe stared.

“Why?”

“To make him sign one final document.”

“What document?”

Isabella swallowed.

“The document that transfers the unborn child's inheritance.”

Khloe's blood ran cold.

“To whom?”

Isabella whispered:

“To me.”

THE LAST DOCUMENT

Khloe opened the envelope.

Inside was a contract.

Her name.

Marcus's name.

The child's name.

And Isabella's.

The date was six months earlier.

Marcus looked at it.

“I never signed this.”

“I know.”

Khloe looked at Isabella.

“Then why does it exist?”

“Because they planned to forge your signatures after the fire.”

Marcus's face hardened.

“So the fire wasn't just about destroying evidence.”

“No.”

“It was about creating new evidence.”

“Yes.”

Khloe stared at the contract.

“If this document had been planted in the archive…”

“It would look legitimate.”

“And the courts would believe…”

“That you and Marcus had voluntarily transferred the child's inheritance.”

Khloe looked at Isabella.

“And you would become the legal trustee.”

Isabella nodded.

“Exactly.”

Khloe finally understood.

The fire had been designed to destroy the old truth—

while leaving behind a manufactured new one.

THE WOMAN BEHIND EVERYTHING

Khloe stood.

“Who ordered it?”

Isabella looked at her.

“You already know.”

“Helena?”

“No.”

“Richard?”

“No.”

“Then who?”

Isabella's eyes filled with fear.

“The person who has been hiding behind both of them.”

Khloe froze.

Marcus stepped closer.

“Name him.”

Isabella shook her head.

“I can't.”

“Why?”

“Because he's not afraid of prison.”

Marcus stared.

“What is he afraid of?”

Isabella whispered:

“Being exposed.”

Khloe looked at her.

“Then expose him.”

Isabella smiled sadly.

“I just did.”

She pointed to the contract.

“Look at the witness signature.”

Khloe looked down.

The witness wasn't Helena.

It wasn't Richard.

It wasn't Adrian.

It was someone she knew.

Someone who had been standing beside her throughout the entire investigation.

Someone she had trusted.

Khloe's breath caught.

Marcus saw the name.

His face went completely still.

“Nathan.”

THE BETRAYAL

The room seemed to freeze.

Khloe stared at the signature.

Nathan Parker.

Her uncle.

The man who had saved her.

The man who had protected her.

The man who had helped expose Isabella.

The man who had told her the truth.

His signature was on the document.

Isabella watched her reaction.

“He signed it.”

Khloe shook her head.

“No.”

“Yes.”

“He saved me.”

“I know.”

“He protected my baby.”

“I know.”

“Then why?”

Isabella looked at her.

“Because Nathan isn't protecting your child.”

Khloe's blood turned cold.

“Then what does he want?”

Isabella leaned forward.

“The trust.”

Silence.

“The original trust.”

“The one your mother protected.”

“The one everyone has been fighting over.”

Khloe stared.

“But Nathan is my uncle.”

Isabella smiled bitterly.

“Exactly.”

THE PHONE CALL

Khloe's phone suddenly rang.

Nathan.

She answered.

“Where are you?”

Silence.

Then his voice.

“I know you found the document.”

Khloe's heart stopped.

“You knew?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Nathan sighed.

“Because I put it there.”

Marcus stepped closer.

Khloe's voice shook.

“Why?”

Nathan answered quietly:

“Because I needed you to find it.”

“What?”

“I needed you to understand who the real enemy was.”

Khloe frowned.

“Who?”

Nathan paused.

Then said:

“Not me.”

A gunshot echoed through the phone.

Khloe screamed.

“Nathan!”

The line went dead.

Marcus grabbed her.

“What happened?”

Khloe looked at him.

“Nathan was shot.”

They ran from the room.

Behind them, Isabella whispered:

“You still don't understand.”

Khloe stopped.

“What?”

Isabella looked at her.

“Nathan didn't sign that document.”

Khloe turned.

“Then who did?”

Isabella's eyes filled with terror.

“Someone who has Nathan's signature.”

Khloe stared.

And suddenly, every piece fell into place.

The forged documents.

The missing footage.

The fire.

The false DNA report.

The fake witness.

The financial transfers.

The manipulation of Isabella.

Someone had spent years collecting signatures.

Stealing identities.

Creating evidence.

Controlling everyone.

And if Nathan's signature had been forged—

then anyone could have been impersonated.

Khloe looked at Marcus.

“Then who signed it?”

Before Marcus could answer, Isabella whispered:

“The man who has been dead for thirty years.”

Khloe's blood ran cold.

Because there was only one name left.

The original architect.

The man whose death had created the Thorne succession crisis.

The man everyone believed had disappeared.

Evelyn Thorne's husband.

Khloe's grandfather.

And according to Isabella—

he had never died.

The fall of Isabella Rossi had exposed the conspiracy.

But it had also opened the final door.

May you like

Behind that door was the man who had started everything.

And now he knew Khloe had found him.
